L’Angélus has been founded by Philippe Hoyez and Gabriel de Balasy.

After spending more than 10 years on stage as Professional magicians, the two business partners ventured into F&B.

Meanwhile, Gabriel de Balasy was a food critic for the famed magazine GaultMillau.

Their first restaurant opened in 1993 in Paris.

1. Paris 1993-1999

L’Angélus was born in the XIVe arrondissement, rue Joanès.

The address fast became a favourite for the neighborhood and following numerous reviews in magazines, part of the trendy Parisian « circuit ».

The address was elected “editor’s choice” by François Simon,  the famed food critic and regularly selected by  Guide Lebey , Guide GaultMillau, Guide Champerard or the guide Elle by Leo Fourneau.

2. Singapore 1998 until today.

Having a premonition about the huge possibilities Singapore could offer, L’Angelus moved to Singapore in June 1998.

The landed in a charming street in historical Chinatown: Club Street.

Growing bigger over the years, always eager to offer new concepts to their faithful customers, L’Angélus Group now runs 4 outlets in the street.

Fridays and Saturdays, Club Street turns car-free, thus adding to the “bohemian” charm of  the area.

L’Angélus celebrates in 2016 18 years of presence in Singapore.
